SAQQARA
Pyramid of Djedkare

Djedjare was a pharaoh of the th Dynasty and ruled for 40 years, from 2414 until 2375 BCE.
Unas' pyramid is surprisingly small considering his long reign, rising only 52 metres above ground. Its present condition is also a disappointment, it is more like a heap of rubble, and it is only on the northern side that a few stones still stand, telling that this once was a structure built by humans. But it stands on an elevation of about 20 metres height; I have not been able to find out whether this was made by man, if it is the remains of an older grave complex or part of the old Nile escarpment.
For those who wish to enter every pyramid, this is possible through a tunnel on the north side.
A destroyed sarcophagus and the remains of a mummy were found in the 19th century, but was not identified until the middle of the 20th century.
