Pyramid of Unas
Unas was the last pharaoh of the 5th Dynasty and ruled for 31 years, from 2375 until 2345 BCE. For more information check the the Encyclopaedia: Unas.
As seen from the Zoser's Pyramid, Unas Pyramid is not worth the walk, since it looks like a mound of rubble. In fact, what you see is its bad side. On the back side, much of the original casing remains, giving a clear image of what pyramids must have looked like when they were complete.
On the northern side, there is a passageway leading into the tomb. The corridors are astonishingly well kept, and the wall paintings look as if they were made yesterday. The texts on the walls are the oldest known example of decorative writing used in any pharaonic tomb chamber. The chamber itself has walls made from nothing less than alabaster.
