Religious freedom

The constitution of United Arab Emirates states that Islam is the state religion, but secures also religious freedom for other faiths. This is also the practice, and the building of churches is accepted.
Muslim women cannot marry non-Muslim men. Should a non-Muslim man and a Muslim woman their marriage will not be considered valid, and both are subject to arrest, trial and imprisonment on grounds of fornication.
Missionary activity is technically not prohibited, but practice makes such activity difficult although not dangerous.
Conversion from Islam is technically not illegal, but such are not recognized; converts remain Muslims in all official documents and practice.
