Yozgat

Town in central Turkey with 75,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate) at an elevation 1,330 metres above sea level, in a valley of the Ak Mountains. It is the capital of Yozgat Province with 690,000 inhabitants (2004 estimate).
It serves as the local market and administrative centre of its region. The main local products are mohair, wool, grain, gum and lead.
It has good connections with the rest of the country, as the main road between Ankara 200 km west and Sivas 200 km east passes through it.
The region around Yozgat holds a good number of Hittite archaeological sites. The main landmark of Yozgat itself is the Friday mosque.
