Sabzevar
City in northeastern Iran with 200,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate) in Khorasan Province.
Sabzevar is the commercial center for an agricultural region producting grapes and raisins. There is some small-scale industry, for food processing, cooperware and electric motors. Through the old bazaar of Sabzevar fresh, dried, and preserved fruits and vegetables are exported.
Sabzevar is connected to Teheran, Mashhad and Bojnurd by road.
The main landmark of Sabzevar is the 12th century Khosrowgerd Tower.
Until the 1960's, Sabzevar was a small town, but migration from the rural districts has made it into one of Iran's fastest growing cities.
