Mohammedia
Arabic: muhammadiyya 

City in Morocco with 190,000 inhabitants (2005 estimate), situated on the Atlantic Ocean, and near the outlet of the river Ould Mellah. Mohammedia is both one of the most popular tourist resorts for Moroccans, as it is close to Casablanca, and the centre of Moroccan petrol industry. A third source of income, is the rock salt factory.
History
1960: The small fisher village of Fedala, is renamed Mohammedia.
1961: Opening of the oil refinery.
