Palestine

Land in the Middle East. The term can correspond to the emerging modern state of Palestine; or to the historical land corresponding to modern Israel and Palestine, and often also western Jordan.
The area is named after the Philistines, a people settling here in the 12th century BCE.
Among the states of Palestine are Israel, Judah, Philistia. Among the peoples were also the Canaanites.
In Israel, in Hebrew, there is no designation for Palestine, only Eretz Israel.
