Dynasty of Ancient Egypt 399-ca.380 BCE, about 19 years, consisting of 4 kings, belonging to the Late Period.
This dynasty emerged from internal conflicts of Egypt. After long time fighting, Nepherites 1 managed to defeat and kill 28th Dynasty King Amyrtaeus at Memphis in 399.
Nepherites 1 was from Mendes in the Nile Delta, and he made this the new national capital.
King Hakor managed to defend Egypt against the Persians, drawing on help from Athens and Cyprus. His 13-year long reign was a prosperous one, he had many monuments built in all of Egypt.
During this period, the Egyptians used Greeks as mercenaries as well as military commanders. The cost of keeping them would prove devastating to the Egyptian treasury; Egypt suffered from not having a money economy, still being forced to pay their troops in foreign coins.
When Nepherites 2 became king around 380, he was king only for 4 months before Nectanebo 1 had him removed making himself new king. With this, the 29th Dynasty ended and the 30th began.
