Getting there: Figuig

Being not much more than two-three tents set at the meandering roads in between the palms, the border point between Morocco and Algeria at Figuig/ Bni Ounif is not seeing the largest crowds of travellers. Most of the people crossing are inhabitants of this region. The soldiers serving this border point are sometimes overzealous, and can sooner than you know, start searching all of you luggage, and stop you for hours, before they get bored at let you go.
At the present this border point is closed, as is the case further north near Oujda. This could have changed, I saw it closed in February 1997, and have heard no news since then.
