What exactly inspired Jimi Hendrix to write his Castles Made of Sand (from the album Axis Bold as Love (1967)) is not 100% certain. But according to local stories the ruins of the old fort known as El-Berod is the thing. The only problem with that story is that Hendrix visited Morocco for the first time a year and a half after the release of Axis Bold as Love.
A short exploration around the area reveals a royal summer pavilion. Further in land, there is the Berber village of Diabat. It is nothing extraordinary today, but stories tell that both Jimi Hendrix and Cat Stevens spent time here.
