The desert or the moon?

Desert expeditions are among Libya's prime attractions, especially with Algeria's desert being on the danger list after a few sad incidents.
Travelling through Libya's desert is safe, being under tight government control. Nobody will let you head out into danger alone, and no tour group travels though the most challenging regions with less than 2 vehicles in the group.
There are several journeys to be made. The most popular are through the Acacus and into the Ubari Sand Sea. They are so popular that our initial recommendation for Acacus, that "you are visiting an area less visited than the South Pole" now has changed into an area where it is hard not to find tire tracks zigzagging the entire region. Still, the popularity is absolutely deserved. Nature is stunning.
Areas that really are little visited, is the crossing to Waw Namus and the journey directly south from Ghadames to al-Aweinat.
There are many other stretches through isolated regions of Libya, but few match the scenery of the ones above.
