ESNA:
Wall decorations

Wall decorations in the Temple of Khnum, Esna, Egypt

Compared to the decorations on the columns, the wall decorations appear quite bleak. The advantage is that they are lower down and therefore easier to study. These decorations deal mostly with the relationship between rulers and the gods. Legitimacy is proven here, in the temple, showing that there is a divine will behind the rulers of Egypt, instead of corruption and chaos.
