Roman Birth House

Dendera, Egypt

Dendera, Egypt

The Roman Birth House was built as a substitute for the Birth House of Nectanebo, which was cut in two after they had built a new wall around the temple of Hathor. There are some fine carvings on the wall, but much has been destroyed by Coptic iconoclasts.
