Zainab bint Muhammad
Arabic:
zaynab bint muhammad

(Mecca ?- Madina 630) Daughter of Muhammad, the founder of Islam, and his wife, Khadija.
Zainab was perhaps the oldest of Muhammad's daughters. By the time of the Hijra (the getaway to Madina in 622) she was married to a non-Muslim man so she did not follow her father to Madina. But when her husband was taken prisoner after the Battle at Badr in 626 CE (4 H), Muhammad had him freed after Zainab had promised to come to Madina. Her husband was taken prisoner again in 628, and once again freed by Zainab's intercession. He became a Muslim the following year, and was reunited with his wife.
Zainab had two children, Ali that died as a child, and Umama that married Ali after Fatima died.
