Umm al-Qaiwain

Town in the United Arab Emirates with 35,000 inhabitants, capital of the Umm al-Qaiwain Emirate, located on the Persian Gulf.
Umm al-Qaiwain is the least modernized of all larger towns in the emirate, and there are no high-rise buildings in town centre. Although not very old, the town from before the oil boom remains largely intact, having even a few original watchtowers.
The main economic activities are linked to administration and services, fishing and agriculture are also of importance here. More and more work in tourism, although the emirate's main attractions are out of town.
