Soninke

Language of the Mande family, spoken mainly in Mali, Senegal and Gambia by the Soninke, altogether 2.0 million (2009 estimate), in Mauritania by 100,000 (2009 estimate), but Ethnologue sets it at 39,000 as of 2006.
It has the status as national language of Mauritania. Soninke is largely written in Arabic in Mauritania, with Latin script in other countries.
