Ras al-Khaimah

City in the United Arab Emirates with 120,000 inhabitants, capital of the Ras al-Khaimah Emirate, located on the Persian Gulf.
Ras al-Khaimah is the most industrialized city in the emirate, as the emirate has no notable oil revenues it has focused on products that can be exported to the other emirates. Out of a wide range of products, cement, ceramics and pharmaceuticals are among the largest.
Ras al-Khaimah is divided into two main parts, the original and the An-Nakhil district across the harbour.
Ras al-Khaimah has been inhabited since the 3rd millennium BCE; the oldest known name is Julfar, first used in the 8th century CE.
Since 1999, there has been a university in Ras al-Khaimah.
