Mentuhotep 3
Other spelling: Sankhkare

King of Ancient Egypt 2004-1992 BCE, 12 years, the 6th ruler of the 11th Dynasty. It appears that Mentuhotep 3 was elderly when becoming king, which explains his short reign.
Although little is known about him, Mentuhotep 3 is recorded for having continued the building projects of his father. This especially involved temples dedicated to gods like Amon and Mentu, as well as local gods. It is also recorded that he was active in sending out expeditions to foreign lands to gather raw materials.
It is suggested that he was buried next to his father's monument at Deir el-Bahri, in a tomb in the cliffs.
He was preceded by his father, Mentuhotep 2, and succeeded by Mentuhotep 4.
