City in southern Iran with 105,000 inhabitants (2009 estimate), in Bushehr province.
The climate is dry and hot, the lands between the city and the Persian Gulf are salt covered flats. In ancient times, Borazjan was coastal town, now the sea is 100 km out. The receding water, has left vast amounts of salt covered flats from Borazjan to Bushehr, a landscape in sparkling white.
Agriculture is the main economy here, producing mainly wheat, dates, tobacco, sesame seeds, watermelons and tomatoes. There are industries for food processing and various manufacturing and textile production servicing the regional market.
