Assyria at the time of Ashur-dan 2

(Dead 912 BCE) Ruler of Assyria ca. 935-912 BCE, 23 years.
He peacefully succeeded his father, Tiglath-pileser 2, as king. The main focus of his reign was to strenghten the existing empire, its borders and administration. He built government offices in all provinces, and saw to the development of agriculture, providing ploughs to a great number of farmers. This allowed economic growth, and appears to have been central in the surge Assyria saw in the following period.
He was succeded by his son, Adad-nirari 2.
