Ajman

City in the United Arab Emirates with 210,000 inhabitants, capital of the Ajman Emirate, located on the Persian Gulf with a coast line of 16 km.
Ajman serves largely as a suburb to Dubai southwest along the coast; Sharjah, in the middle, is also part of this metropolitan area.
In recent years, many projects to develop Ajman as its own centre have been launched, being the only emirate offering 100% ownership for foreigners. A free zone has been established, and tourism has been promoted since the 1990's; Ajman has one of the finest beaches in the emirate. Ajman is building its own international airport.
A large ship manufacturing firm is headquartered to Ajman, and a local dhow yard is still operative. Ajman has a good harbour with a natural creek.
The main sight of Ajman is a 18th century fort, which was the residence of the emir until 1970.
Ajman has 2 universities.
